History Lessons

"DBDD" started in July 2005. Stuart founded it and was the only person for awhile. When shirts started being made in 2006, DBDD had 4 shirts by time June came, which was when most of Stuart's relationships in the NC music scene began. DBDD became "bodies" in Fall 2006 when Matt became considered the "other person", finally becoming a part even though he had shirts ever since the very first prints. We began booking shows in 2007, and moved in together in Feb 2007. In May 2007 we had our first "showcase" of our sponsored bands at The Soundvent, along with releasing another shirt for the event. This was our last shirt to be printed by someone else, as in July 2007 we took it upon ourselves to make DIY-ethics part of our business.

Become Sponsored

Full Sponsorships: To become a fully sponsored band/athlete/etc, you must be actively pursuing a career in whatever industry you're being sponsored for. That means touring, working towards going pro, and for musicians that means recording and releasing albums and seeking or continuing label support. Full sponsorship is nearly free clothing (shipping is normally the only thing you pay).

Secondary Sponsorships: This sponsorship is "easier" but unlike the full sponsorship, you must pay for clothes. You receive a discount code, which will give you a huge percentage off of most items. This sponsorship is for lesser known bands, who may not be to the level of touring or seeking label support, but still feel worth our time to support.

What we want: We're looking to expand to areas that we do not already have support. We're into hardcore, indie, hiphop, grind, metalcore, and anything that is just terrifyingly heavy and as well as professionally recorded bands. In 2007 we reached into Canada. Starting in 2008, our goal is to get into the UK.

What we don't want: We love all NC bands, but seriously, don't ask us unless your attempting to make something of your band, and actual progress has been documented. We also don't want bands who are just "big on myspace", faking your plays/views is not worth our time. You're not getting a sponsorship just by talking to us, we take at least a month to confirm most bands, and we monitor your myspace, so you don't need to make yourself look better than you are. Not looking for any "one man electro grind bands". Don't need any joke bands, no bands covering Soldja Boy, or bands with no friends. If you don't take yourself seriously, or not taking the time to promote your band, why should we?

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Damn Yes'n?
Damn Yes!

Herd? What does that mean?
"Herd" is a group of cattle or other animals. The term came into use while not wanting to call ourselves the "Dead Body Crew", since crews are stereotypically full of drama and violence. The term also pokes fun at the crew mentality of running in packs and not fighting on your own, referring to them more like sheep than wolves.

What brand do you print on?
Since we've used several companies, our shirts have been printed on multiple brands. We're currently not 100% on what we will be ordering for prints, but more than likely Gildan because of their color selection.

What does the name mean?
Answer #1: Stuart use to write a lot of lame poetry and lyrics to stuff, while being at the beach he wrote a rap since that was what people were doing back home at the time. The rap included the line, "Dead bodies don't drown, but bitches like you do". We've heard a lot of people who say "but dead bodies do drown", and the response to that is, no, they don't, the act of drowning is breathing liquid into lungs, which if you're dead is an incredibly hard act to induce. Watch CourtTV sometime and you might know that.

Answer #2: Go watch Zombie (aka Zombi 2), Zombie vs Shark scene. He didn't drown. He's also classed as the "undead", but whatever.

What's the deal with all the diamond disses?
We're referring to a certain "modern" clothing company, which has never impressed us and still somehow became huge. It's not a stab at another NC clothing company (Cutthroat Clothing), which sponsor some of the same bands as us. Our only beef with CT is their name changes. :)

Who designs your products?
We do. :) DBDD colab on ideas with ourselves, sometimes bounce ideas off others to see if it works the way we think it does, then produce comps and stuff. It's a good 3+ month process, if the idea or design isn't right or is annoying in 3 months, than theres a problem with it and we work on it more. Some of our first shirts were produced quickly without care due to deadlines, but not anymore. We can do what we want, when we want, which is deliver professional design work and not just make money off kids wanting to wear diamonds.

Who prints your clothing?
We've used several NC related companies, one of which being Contagious Graphics (who hasn't used them...), but as of August 2007, we have printed our own clothing.
